About

The Mount Tabor UMC Weekday Preschool began in the Fall of 1972 as a mother's morning out program.  With 50 years of loving and caring for children, we are passionate about carrying out our mission.

Our Mission

Out of love for the children and in the spirit of gratitude to God for having given us these facilities at Mount Tabor, we shall offer to the preschool children of our church community and surrounding areas, as an extension of our Christian ministry a program of Christian, social, cultural and educational development.

  • To provide a Christian atmosphere which will enable each child to grow to his/her fullest potential physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.

  • To provide an enriching experience for the preschool years through a planned program appropriate for each child’s stage of development.

  • To give each child loving care and to help him/her develop a positive attitude for a sense of self worth and a respect and friendship for others.

  • To encourage creativity and initiative through individual and group play in class experiences which incorporate learning centers with educational and creative materials.

Mt. Tabor Preschool is a wonderful place to work!  I enjoy greeting the children each morning, visiting the classrooms, and hearing the staff share all the amazing stories about their students. I grew up in the Pfafftown community and ended up living in the same area after college.  I graduated from UNCC with a B.A. in Human Development and Learning with an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education.  I have been fortunate to work in my field for over 30 years.  I took a few years off when my son was born to stay home with him. Our goal at Mt. Tabor Preschool is to create the best possible learning environment for our preschoolers.  As a staff we strive to nurture each child to help them grow academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.  We meet regularly to develop new and exciting curriculum.  I feel truly blessed to be a part of such a dedicated group of people!
